To get there:

We are keen to encourage active travel to our festival and have provided information for all our venues. You may also wish to take advantage of the electric bicycle scheme, Voi, which operates on a pay as you go, prepaid or subscription basis. There are pick up and drop off points throughout the city.

  • On foot: From Queen Street (Dundas Place): This is a 45 min walk (1.9 miles) via Dundas Lane, Bath Street, Woodlands Road, Eldon Street, Gibson Street and Hillhead Street. The route is mostly flat with a steep incline from Gibson Street to Hillhead Street.
  • By bus: From Central Station (Argyle Street): 3, 4 and 9 and 9A to West Regent Street Bus stop (2 stops). This is a 6 min walk (0.3 miles). The route is flat.
    From Queen Street (Cathedral Bridge) take the 15 Bus to Milngavie to the University Library (11 stops) and walk 2 minutes (338 feet) to the Gallery. This is a steep incline.
  • By subway: The nearest underground station is Hillhead. The ticket concourse is located one level below street level. Escalators, stairs, a sloped moving walkway and ramped access provide access. Escalators and four flights of stairs provide access to the ticket concourse from the northern Buchanan Galleries entrance. The upper three flights for stairs are made up of 12 steps and the lower flight has 14 steps. There is a small landing between each of the flights. There are two flights of stairs leading down to both the Inner and Outer platforms, with a landing between each flight. The uppermost flight has 13 steps and the lower most flight of stairs has 16 steps. This is the same on access to both platforms. A double left turn is needed at each landing to reach the next flight. All stairs have double height handrails which are non-reflective and not “cold to touch.” From Hillhead subway it is a 10 minute walk (o.4 miles) via Byres Road, Ashton Road and University Avenue. It is a steep incline to the Gallery from University Avenue.
  • By car: There is metered on street parking in Hillhead Street Blue Badge holders can park for free and any length of time. There is a drop off and pick up point outside the Gallery on request.
