Unusual Ingredients explores the fascinating relationship between food and flavour in a multi-sensory experience served up specially for Sonica Glasgow 2022. Through a series of quirky experiments designed by Hobkinson, audiences will learn how varying musical frequencies can make the same food seem sweeter, spicier, even crunchier, as they taste nine different foods, including popping candy, Szechuan pepper and ginger, alongside nine soundscapes newly composed by Martin and Thompson-Bell. You’ll never look at – or listen to – food in the same way again.
