Cheekily reclaiming and exploding the omnipresent TEDTalk format, Kaj Duncan David’s Lecture About Myself (2019) is both a lecture on cybernetics and posthumanity, and an audiovisual piece for two musicians. As a fictive supercomputer delivers a treatise on artificial intelligence – both its benefits and its darker implications – Swiss-based electronic music duo reConvert (Roberto Maqueda and Lorenzo Columbo) engage in a dramatic percussive battle that seems to comment on the speaker’s ideas – and perhaps even to be guided by them.
