When you emerge from Portal, there are lots of great things to see and do on the southside of the River…
Discover Govan’s ancient history through the Govan Stones at Govan Old Parish Church or visit Fairfield Heritage Centre to marvel at the story of Glasgow’s greatest shipyard. Take in lunch at the wonderful Vital Spark* and walk it off with an enjoyable stroll around Elder Park. Make a day of it by popping over to the Riverside Museum and the Tall Ship. And if you have been there done that, why not try one of the new Govan Hidden History Walking Trails? Find out more and download free maps and guides to your mobile by visiting getintogovan.com
If you still have an appetite for adventure, why not make your return journey just as memorable by boarding the free Govan Summer Ferry which operates daily between 08:00 – 18.00 Monday to Friday and 10.00 – 17.30 at the weekends? The ferry departs Govan from the pontoon at the bottom of Water Row and shuttles backwards and forwards to Kelvin Harbour.
