Scott Douglas Gordon and Adrian Murray are fascinated by interactive mechanisms that produce sound even though they are not, technically, musical instruments. Their new site-specific work in the grounds of Pollok House, Centrip, is an idiophone: a device that produces sound through its own movement. Visitors who happen upon Centrip will discover how their interactions with the mysterious sculptural object produce chimes that ring out across the gardens, sounding an invitation to other spectators.
