Ayrshire-born, Glasgow-based singer Isa Gordon’s new project is a series of transfigurations. Her album 8Men is a compilation of traditional songs and covers of contemporary folk, rock and metal songs she finds inspirational, from Robert Wyatt to Black Sabbath, unified by Gordon’s own distinctive blend of treated vocals, warm electronica and a smattering of beats. For this live reworking, Gordon transforms these songs once more, rescoring them for an all-female choir who provide backing vocals as she sings and celebrates the songs she loves.
