Within reasonable walking distance from CCA, ISOdesign Studio and The Lighthouse, 13th Note is a popular vegan bar-restaurant and “irrepressible Glasgow institution” (The Skinny) located in the Merchant City.
The 13th Note attracts food fans (carnivores included), musos and those in pursuit of a mid-week pint in comfortable surroundings alike. Thanks to its basement gig space, where bands of the louder variety perform nightly, you can be sure that the restaurant and bar upstairs are always filled with an interesting mix of punters.
In the heart of the West End and 5 minutes walk from the Kelvingrove Bandstand and the University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel, The Left Bank serves fresh, varied food using seasonal local produce wherever possible.
The Left Bank’s laid-back atmosphere and appealing menu have made this café-bar-restaurant something of a fixture in ever-changing Gibson Street, and it’s now entering its second decade. Friendly staff and excellent bar (a full 17 different wines by the glass) encourage extended sessions, while The Left Bank is an equally decent choice for a quick coffee.
10 minutes walk from Tramway and only 5 minutes from Govanhill Baths, The Bungo Bar & Kitchen serves the Southside with delicious, homemade local food and offers menus for kids, vegans, veggies and coeliacs.
The Bungo’s cosy bar area complete with booths and tables and bare brick walls shares a menu with a more refined restaurant area. A number of deals and themes throughout the week ensure the place is always bustling with diners and locals enjoying a decent range of beers and cocktails – particularly an awesome Bloody Mary.
